The Role of the Parents
The
American Academy National Home School strongly believes that when parents are
with their children while learning, a special learning intensity is developed.
That is the reason why we are proactive in enjoining all parents to take part
in their children’s learning process. We call this learning process, a
partnership.
Ideal System of Academic Learning for Home Based Schooling
We are a
Christian school and we operate academically with a Christian home school curriculum. With the employ of School of
Tomorrow – also known as Accelerated Christian Education [ACE] and other
supportive curriculum, we reduce the pressure of the normal learning process by
allowing self-teaching methodologies. Each student is allowed to progress in
academic learning based on his level of comprehension and intelligence. This
allows a student to have an adjusted pacing in his learning based on said
parameters. For those who proved to have an advanced intelligence or
comprehension level, they may progress ahead of time. The rest are being
encouraged to comply with their best effort.
Individualized Learning Process
We do
individual audit of students’ comprehension and intelligence level using
academic assessment and related tests. The results are being used as guide as
to where to start and how adjustments are to be made as the students go along.
Using a fair Christian home school
curriculum students are spared from undue peer pressure and humiliation
because no one else is around to compare scores or achievements with them.
Individual pacing works for students who showed less academic progress because
as per experience, we have produced honor students out of them at the end of
the curriculum where they enrolled.
Our Services
We offer
what other schools basically offer, subjects like English, Science, Social
Studies, Mathematics and Spelling or word building, these plus other elective
courses are available as part of the normal curriculum package. All curricula
require 144 units starting with pre-school, to kindergarten all the way up from
Grade 1 to 12. Mathematics is at 132 units only and Spelling or Word Building
ends at 9th grade only. Under normal circumstances, we require a
student to pass 60 to 72 units per academic year, depending on one’s pacing. We
allow fast learners to progress and accelerate faster to commensurate their
capacity.
In each of
the Christian home school curriculum, we assure a faster and smother mastery of course contents
as these are developed individually, or customized according to one’s needs. Every
curriculum is assured to be complete and fully comprehensive. At the start, we
always make sure that each one has set goals and we assess the achievement of
such goals as we go along the way. As a Christian home school curriculum, we
make it a point to empower students by giving them responsibilities and
rewarding them each time they complete what is due to be done.
